Mission Statement
Starr Elementary prepares students for their future, not our past.
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
Starr Treasures Academics, Respect, and Responsibility
What is PBIS and what role does it play in your student's day? Positive Behavior Intervention and Support is a program supported by the Indiana Department of Education and RCS to promote and maximize academic achievement and behavioral competence. It is a school-wide strategy for helping all students achieve important social and learning goals. As part of the PBIS plan at Starr Elementary we use ClassDojo and Good Behavior Parties. Please contact our building if you have any questions regarding our PBIS plan.
General Expectations
Students need to be in class and ready to begin their daily activities at 7:50. Our dismissal time is 1:40 Monday through Friday. Unless it is an absolute emergency transportation changes cannot be made after after 1:10 PM. We need for all our students to be here daily and on time. Attendance is important at Starr. Please schedule all appointments after school hours.
The only entrance that will be accessible throughout the school day will be the front door at 301 North 19th Street. This door will be locked for security purposes. Please press the door bell and we will let you in. All other doors will remain locked for security reasons. All visitors are to report to the office and will be asked to sign in, sign out and wear a visitor’s badge while in the building.
Breakfast will be served from 7:15-7:45 in the classroom.
We will update community events and opportunities all year on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
